I was always worried a lot especially about my parents, siblings and extended family.
I wanted to be able to provide all they needed, I was worried when they were sick, when they traveled, went for an exam, didn't have something to eat etc
In fact I was so worried about them that I wasn’t living fully(misery was written all over me).
Then I heard this teaching concerning worry from my Pastor and that day it really sank deep. I discovered I have been trying to play God all these years over the life of my family which didn’t workout anyway.
From that day I had to quit worrying as it wasn’t the best option, instead I decided to hand them and everything that concerned them over to God who has the capacity to fully take care of them including me. I experienced total freedom and peace from that day onwards.
Does that mean I still don’t get worried about them sometimes? 🤷♀️The answer is No but the goodnews is that I have learnt to remind myself when worry comes that I am not in charge anymore. Jesus will take care of them because I have committed them to Him but I’ll do my best as God enables me. 😍
Worrying can be very depressing and it’s a ploy from the devil to keep us in bondage. Instead of worrying, let’s pray about everything we are going through as the Bible recommends. Things will change when we pray!
Philippians 4:6-7
6. Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.
7. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
Matthew 6:27-33
27 And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life? [Ps. 39:5-7.]
28 And why should you be anxious about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field and learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin.
29 Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these. [I Kings 10:4-7.]
30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear?
32 For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all.
33 But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.
